Facial tools: Which is right for you?

Facial tools are an amazing way to amp up your skin care routine.

Tools bring forth amazing results, but each tool has different techniques and engages differently with the skin.

To help you get started and learn more about the benefits of using tools we focused on two of the most sought after facial tools today, the Gua Sha stone and the Jade Roller.

We put together the benefits of each tool to help you better understand what they are used for, so you can decide which one is best for you.

1. Facial Gua Sha

This flat small hand sized stone, brings more to the table than it looks. Gua Sha originated in Chinese medical practice, which is believed to heal the body from muscle pain, inflammation, and illness and also move blocked “chi” or energy in the body which leads to balance and relieves stiffness and tension. Although Gua Sha is traditionally used on the body, this amazing tool is becoming increasingly popular on the face. Like traditional facial rollers, Gua Sha is made from stone and is meant to be used with a facial oil to help the stone slide smoothly without tugging on the delicate face and neck skin.

  • Does require a little more time and effort to learn how to use properly
  • Possible to see results fast
  • Promotes lymphatic drainage to reduce puffiness in the face
  • Releases toxins under the skin through the lymph nodes
  • Increases blood circulation for more glowing skin
  • Calls for a more detailed facial regimen
  • Lifts, sculpts & tones the face for a youthful complexion
  • Has many shapes and edges that fit different areas of the face
  • Aids skin in its ability to purge excess sebum/oil buildup that leads to acne
  • The shape of the Gua Sha is perfect for sculpting the cheekbones & jawline
  • Relieve tension in the shoulders/ back muscles
  • Provides a deeper facial massage than facial rolling

2. Jade Roller

A facial roller is a beauty tool that is used to massage the face in a particular motion.

Just as the Gua Sha, the jade roller is dated back to Chinese Culture. Facial Rollers are traditionally made from authentic stones.

  • Jade Rolling is easy and requires little to no effort to learn
  • Does require more frequent and regular use in order to see results
  • Promotes lymphatic drainage to reduce puffiness in the face
  • Releases toxins under the skin through the lymph nodes
  • Helps penetrate product better
  • Provides a targeted message to areas like the jaw or temples
  • Great for a quick facial regimen
  • Relaxes the facial muscles where fine lines tend to set
  • Increases blood circulation for more glowing skin
  • Applies lighter pressure to the skin than Gua Sha
  • Provides a more delicate facial massage than gua sha
  • More cooling/depuffing than Gua Sha since the stones remain cool since they are not being held in the palm of your hand

When would I use them?

  • Tense jaw? Use the Gua Sha on the jaw to help release any tension built up.
  • Is your skin feeling sensitive? Go with the facial roller.
  • Do you have some extra time to treat yourself? Use the Gua Sha.
  • Did you wake up with puffy eyes? Use the small end of the facial roller for a cooling and depuffing massage.
  • Tight on time? Grab your jade roller.
  • Are the muscles in your face feeling especially tense or stressed? The Sua sha would help to get deeper in your facial muscles

SO, Which One?

BOTH!!!! Using both tools can help you maximize your most radiant and glowing skin EVER!

Both beauty tools have such powerful benefits and are used for different reasons. We recommend using the Jade Roller in the Am and the Gua Sha at night before bed. Treat yourself to a facial massage at least a few times a week, and use daily for best results.
